How to gather? Acting in a Center in a City in the Heart of the Island of Eurasia

Under challenging circumstances, the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art opts for a radical format and changes its structure: the biennale will be condensed into ten days. Artistic, discursive and reflective moments will shape the space. Located in the Pavilion No.1 of VDNKh, it is here that the Moscow Biennale will evolve, as a think tank in real time.

Biennale: Sept 22 - Oct 1, 2015
Documentary exhibition project: Oct 3 - Oct 11, 2015

Based in Shanghai, CN

Birdhead is a photographic collective founded in 2004, consisting of Ji Weiyu (Chinese, born 1980) and Song Tao (Chinese, born 1979). Both artists graduated from the Shanghai Arts and Crafts School in 2000; Ji also studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. Ji and Song live and work in Shanghai.

As one of Moscow Biennale's four photographic eyes, Birdhead observe the city and its surroundings. They will bring their impressions back to VDNKh's Pavilion No.1 and create a large photo installation on site. Like a piece in a puzzle, each photo contributes to Birdhead's view of the ten days they spend in Moscow.
